That 2-0 lead did not last long as the Marauders struck for five runs in the fourth. A single and double put two runners on with no one out. A strike out and ground out scored a run but SHU still had a 2-1 lead with two outs but the Marauders doubled to tie the game then hit back to back homers to take a 5-2 lead.
Millersville got leadoff homers to start the fifth and sixth innings as they increased their lead to 7-2. The Marauders then added two more runs in the seventh to make it 9-2.
Vincenzo Rauso, Oberdorf and
Logan Vietmeier drew walks to start the eighth inning. After a pop out, Mandler just missed a grand slam, settling for a sacrifice fly to the left field wall to cut the lead to 9-3.
Vietmeier drew a bases loaded walk with two outs in the ninth for the final run of the game.
Sabol and Oberdorf each had two hits for the Griffins.
SHU and Millersville will play game two of the super regional at 11 AM on Saturday. Should the Griffins win, a third and deciding game would be played a half hour after game two.
