Seton Hill continued play at the PSAC Championships with a winners bracket final matchup with West Chester on Friday afternoon at Jack Critchfield Park in Slippery Rock.

The Griffins scored early and late as they defeated West Chester 14-4 in eight innings to advance to Championship Saturday at the PSAC Baseball Championships. Seton Hill improves to 43-10 on the season.Â

West Chester put together three hits in the top of the first inning as they took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins. SHU did not take any time to retake the lead.Â
Jack Whalen and
Vincenzo Rauso drew walks to start the inning. After a fly out, both runners stole a bag.Â
Logan Vietmeier then gave the Griffins a 2-1 lead with a double to left. After an out,
Max Mandler launched a bomb to left center field to score Vietmeier and give SHU a 4-1 lead.Â

Noah Sweeney doubled with one out in the second. Rauso drove in Sweeney with a two out hit to make it 5-1.Â

The Griffins added on in the third. Vietmeier doubled to lead off the third. He moved to third on a bunt hit from
Owen Sabol. Mandler followed with an RBI single to make it 6-1. Both runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt from
Braden Durham. Sabol scored on a
Joe Fiedor sacrifice fly. Sweeney reached on an infield single driving in a run. Rauso made it 9-1 with a single to center field.Â

West Chester scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to trim the Griffin lead to 9-4.Â

The Griffins ended the contest with five runs in the eighth.Â
Jack Whalen reached on a three base error to start the inning. Rauso drove in Whalen with a ground rule double.Â
Jack Oberdorf followed with an RBI double to make it 11-4. After two outs, Mandler singled to score Oberdorf. Durham ended the game with a bomb to left field on the first pitch he saw.Â

Aidan Layton earned his seventh win of the season. He worked 6.1 innings and struck out five.Â
Caiden Wood threw 1.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout.Â

Rauso went 3-3 with three RBIs. Mandler also had three hits and drove in four. Vietmeier, Sabol, Fiedor and Sweeney each added two hits.

The Griffins advance to Championship Saturday where they will meet either West Chester or IUP. Either team will need to defeat the Griffins twice to win the title. Game time is set for 11 AM.  Â
