Seton Hill continued play at the PSAC Championships with a second round matchup with California (PA) on Thursday afternoon at Jack Critchfield Park in Slippery Rock.

SHU scored ten unanswered runs to break a 2-2 tie and advance in the PSAC Tournament with a 12-3 win over CalU. SHU is now 42-10 on the season. Â

The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after
Vincenzo Rauso doubled with one out. He later scored on a two out RBI hit from
Logan Vietmeier.Â

In the second, the Griffins added a second run.Â
Max Mandler singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Joe Fiedor. Mandler moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when
Noah Sweeney singled to left field.Â

The Vulcans took advantage of a leadoff walk and an error on a bunt to score twice and tie the game at two in the third.Â

SHU retook the lead in the fifth.Â
Braden Durham doubled to lead off the inning. He moved to third on a Sweeney groundout and scored on a
Jack Whalen sacrifice fly.Â

The Griffins added another run in the sixth.Â
Jack Oberdorf led off with a double and moved to third when Vietmeier reached on a bunt base hit. Oberdorf scored when
Owen Sabol hit a sacrifice fly to center field.Â

Seton Hill sent eleven hitters to the plate in the seventh inning as they scored five times, all after two outs. Sweeney started the rally with a walk. Whalen reached on an infield single. Rauso singled thru the right side to give SHU a 5-2 lead. Oberdorf was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Vietmeier singled to right field scoring two runs. Sabol then made it 9-2 with a two RBI double that closed out the scoring.Â

The Griffins added three more runs in the ninth. Vietmeier and Sabol singled to lead off the inning. Later in the inning, Durham homered to left field to give SHU a 12-2 lead.Â

Brandon Bergert earned the win with six innings of work. He allowed two runs, both unearned, on two hits while striking out seven. Vietmeier led SHU with four hits. Whalen, Rauso, Sabol, Durham and Sweeney each added two hits. Vietmeier, Sabol and Durham.

The Griffins advance to the winners bracket final where they will meet the winner of the West Chester/IUP matchup at 11 AM on Friday.Â
