Baseball Sweeps Gannon, Wins PSAC Western Division Title

Seton Hill closed their four game set against Gannon with a PSAC West doubleheader against the Golden Knights in Greensburg on Saturday afternoon with a chance to wrap up the PSAC Western Division title. 
 
The Griffins took game one by the score of 10-4, scoring seven runs in their final two at bats.  SHU completed the four game sweep of Gannon with an 8-3 win in game two.  With the two wins, the Griffins wrapped up the PSAC Western Division title with one week of play remaining.  SHU is now 38-8 overall and a perfect 24-0 in the west. 
 
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one.  Jack Oberdorf doubled and scored when Logan Vietmeier singled.  Eli Snider doubled to knock in Max Mandler and give SHU a 2-0 lead in the second. 
 
Gannon scored three times in the third to take a 3-2 lead.  The Griffins tied the game at three in the bottom half of the inning.  Vincenzo Rauso singled and scored on a Vietmeier single.  The Golden Knights retook the lead in the fifth.
 
Rauso homered to tie the score at four leading off the fifth.  Oberdorf and Vietmeier singled with Oberdorf scoring on a Joe Fiedor double. Owen Sabol followed with a two RBI single as SHU took a 7-4 lead.  The Griffins picked up a run on a balk in the sixth. 
 
Caiden Wood earned the win with 4.2 innings of relief.  He allowed one run on three hits and struck out three.  Vietmeier led the offense going 4-4.  Rauso and Oberdorf each added three hits.  Sabol finished with two.  Sabol added three RBIs.
 
Gannon took a 3-0 lead over the Griffins in the first inning of game two.  It did not take the Griffins long to respond as they scored five times in the second.  Fiedor singled to start the inning.  Mandler singled and Noah Sweeney walked to load the bases.  Snider walked to force in a run.  Whalen doubled to left center to tie the score at three.  Rauso followed with an RBI single and Oberdorf made it 5-3 with a sacrifice fly. 
 
In the fifth, Vietmeier singled and Fiedor was hit by a pitch.  Mandler walked to load the bases.  Sweeney doubled to score two and give SHU a 7-3 lead.  Snider followed with an RBI single as SHU took an 8-3 lead. 
 
Michael Marinchak earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief.  He struck out three.  Derek Fravel added two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.  Rauso had a pair of hits for SHU.
 
The Griffins will conclude the PSAC West schedule with a four game set with Mercyhurst on Thursday and Friday of next week.
