The Griffin softball team made the trip north to Erie for a PSAC West doubleheader at Gannon on a cold and blustery Sunday afternoon.

SHU scored four or more runs in three different innings as they defeated Gannon, 14-4 in six innings in game one.   Gannon rallied from 4-1 down in the sixth to walk off the Griffins with a 5-4 win in game two. SHU is now 25-13 overall and 18-6 in the west.Â

Gannon used a two out single and an opposite field two run homer to take a quick 2-0 lead over the Griffins in the bottom of the first inning of game one.Â

Seton Hill got one of those runs back in the top of the second inning.Â
Lauren Dellett homered to left field to lead off the inning and cut the Gannon lead to 2-1.Â

SHU scored four times in the third.Â
Bre Athey led off the inning with a single. She moved to third on a
Nina Grandey single.Â
Grace Paredes followed with two RBI single to right to give SHU a 3-2 lead.Â
Brooke Cleland followed with an RBI single up the middle.Â
Mackenzie Zang closed out the scoring with an RBI single as SHU took a 5-2 lead.Â

Gannon scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to cut the Griffins lead to 5-4. The Griffins responded with five runs in the top of the fourth. Athey led off the inning with a single and scored on a two run shot down the left field line from
Camryn Murphy. Grandey reached on an error and scored when Cleland doubled to left center. After a line out, Zang homered to left field to increase the SHU lead to 10-4.Â

The Griffins added four more runs in the sixth.Â
Brooklyn Fukushima started the scoring with an RBI single. Murphy added two runs with an double. Grandey closed out the scoring with an RBI ground out.

Dellett earned her 16
th win of the season with a complete game effort. She struck out ten in the win. Zang paced the offense with three hits. She drove in three. Murphy, Dellett, Fukushima, Athey and Cleland each added two hits. Murphy added four RBI.Â

SHU jumped on Gannon in the first inning of game two. Murphy and Grandey singled to start the inning. After an out, Dellett knocked in two with a double to give SHU a 2-0 lead. Â

The Griffins added another run in the third on doubles from Paredes and Cleland as SHU took a 3-0 lead.Â

The Golden Knights got a run back in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 3-1. It did not take SHU long to respond as Murphy homered to center field to lead off the top of the fifth and extend the SHU lead back to 4-1.Â

Gannon used four straight hits to tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth. The third hit was a three run homer to tie the game.Â
Â
The Golden Knights then walked off the Griffins with a two out, RBI double in the seventh.Â
Â
Murphy, Paredes and Cleland each had two hits for the Griffins.Â

SHU will continue PSAC West play on Tuesday with a doubleheader at California (PA).  Â
