Women's Lacrosse Earns Senior Day Victory

The Seton Hill women's lacrosse team hosted Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon in a PSAC West contest.  Prior to the game, the Griffins honored seniors Kyleigh Hessian, Alaina TeSelle, Makayla Kintner, Hannah Thompson and Elizabeth Tamasitis.  

The Griffins used the momentum of the senior day as they jumped on the Lakers by scoring the first eight goals of the contest in a 15-11 win over Mercyhurst.  The Griffins have now won eleven in a row and are 13-3 overall and 11-0 in PSAC West play.  

It did not take the Griffins long to get on the scoreboard as Piper Conlan scored just 32 seconds into the contest on a free position shot as SHU took the quick 1-0 lead.  Tamasitis made it 2-0 with a goal at the 12:04 mark of the quarter as SHU took a 2-0 lead.  Conlan and Bunker scored just 12 seconds a part as the Griffins extended their lead to 4-0 with 9:07 left in the quarter.  Skylar Orlowski scored on a free position shot with 3:23 to play to give SHU the 5-0 lead.  

Bunker scored just 36 seconds into the second quarter as SHU continued their scoring run.  Carleigh Sutfin scored on a free position shot with 12:58 to play then scored another goal just 26 seconds later as the Griffins built an 8-0 lead.  The Lakers then scored three straight goals to trim the SHU lead to 8-3 with 5:48 left in the half.  Conlan scored her third of the game and Tamasitis scored on a free positiion shot with four seconds left in the half as Seton Hill took a 10-4 lead into the halftime break.  

Conlan scored her fourth of the game, this one just eight seconds into the second half as Seton Hill extended their lead to 11-4.  Two straight from the Lakers cut the lead to 11-6 midway thru the quarter.  Tamasitis and Thompson scored just over a minute apart as the Griffins built their lead to 13-6 with 3:48 left in the third.  Bunker scored on a free position shot as the quarter ended and SHU took a 14-6 lead into the fourth quarter.  

The Lakers then outscored the Griffins 5-1 in the fourth period but it was too late.  Mila Udovicic scored the lone SHU goal in the fourth.  

SHU had 25 shots on goal to just 16 for the Lakers.  The Griffins finished with 20 draw controls to just nine for the Lakers.  

Conlan led SHU with four goals and an assist.  Bunker finished with three goals and an assist.  Tamasitis scored three times.  Sutfin finished with two and two.  Orlowski added a goal and two assists.  Udovicic finished with a goal and assist.  Bunker had 15 draw controls.  

SHU will travel to IUP on Wednesday with first place and a bye in the PSAC Playoffs on the line.
