Seton Hill began a four game PSAC West set as they hosted Slippery Rock on Friday afternoon in a PSAC West doubleheader on a beautiful sunny and warm afternoon.
Seton Hill scored in all six at bats as they defeated Slippery Rock 11-0 in game one. The Griffins completed the sweep of the Rock with a 3-0 win in game two. SHU is now 31-8 overall and 18-0 in the PSAC West.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a two out, solo homer down the left field line from
Jack Oberdorf.
SHU added a run in the second.
Owen Sabol led off with a single and stole second. He scored on a single to left center from
Elijah Snider. The Griffins added another pair of runs in the third. Oberdorf led off with a single and scored when Sabol doubled. Sabol scored when
Logan Vietmeier singled to right as SHU took a 4-0 lead.
Seton Hill added another run in the fourth. Oberdorf scored Whalen with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-0. SHU added another three runs in the fifth.
Joe Fiedor singled in Sabol as the Griffins increased their lead to 6-0.
Vincenzo Rauso then made it 8-0 with a two RBI single.
SHU added three more in the sixth on a three run bomb to left from Vietmeier.
Jon McCullough earned his third win with a complete game four hitter. He needed just 65 pitches to earn the win. Sabol led the offense with three hits. Rauso, Oberdorf and Vietmeier each added two hits. Oberdorf and Vietmeier each homered.
In game two, Sabol singled to lead off the second and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Braden Durham.
The Griffins added on in the sixth. Mandler led off with a single. Sabol drew a walk and Vietmeier singled to load the bases. Durham was hit by a pitch to force in a run. SHU made it 3-0 on a sacrifice fly from Fiedor.
Brandon Bergert went six scoreless innings. He gave up four hits and struck out six.
Blake Barker struck out the side in the seventh to earn the save.
The Griffins will continue the four game set with a doubleheader at the Rock on Sunday.
