Griffins Earn Non Conference Win over Frostburg State

Seton Hill took a short break from PSAC West play as they hosted Frostburg State on Tuesday afternoon in a non conference nine inning contest.

The Griffins defeated Frostburg State 9-1 as they scored the final nine runs of the contest.  SHU is now 29-8 overall.

It did not take the Bobcats long to get on the scoreboard as they hit a solo homer with two outs in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins.

The Griffins retook the lead in the second.  With one out, Owen Sabol drew a walk.  Braden Durham followed with a homer on a 2-0 pitch to put the Griffins in front 2-1.  Jared Dowey singled and moved to third on a single from Max Mandler.  Dowey scored on an RBI groundout from Joe Fiedor as SHU took a 3-1 lead.

SHU added two more runs in the third inning.  Vincenzo Rauso was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Jack Oberdorf walked.  Both stole a bag with Rauso scoring on a throwing error.  Oberdorf scored when Durham doubled as SHU took a 5-1 lead.

Seton Hill added three more runs in the fifth without a hit.  Four straight free passes started the inning.  Logan Vietmeier drew a bases loaded walk to force in a run.  Owen Sabol scored a run when he reached on a fielders choice and Durham squeezed in a run with a bunt as SHU built its lead to 8-1.

Durham and Mandler each had three hits to lead the Griffins.  Durham drove in four with a double, triple and homer.

The Griffins will continue PSAC West play this weekend with a four game set with Slippery Rock.
