Softball Drops a Pair at the Spring Games

Seton Hill returned to action with a pair of games at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida at Legends Park.

SHU opened the doubleheader with a contest against Northwood and closed out the day with a matchup against Saginaw Valley State.

The Griffins dropped a 4-0 decision to Northwood in the first contest of the day and then lost a 4-1 decision to Saginaw Valley State in game two.  SHU is now 5-7 on the season.

Northwood scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead.  They were able to hold that lead for the remainder of the contest.

In game two, Saginaw Valley took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning.  They added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning.

Seton Hill tried to rally in the seventh inning.  After two outs, Chloe Elliott singled.  Kylie Hegland followed with a single.  Morgan Toal drew a walk to load the bases.  Camryn Murphy reached on an error with pinch runner Bre Athey scoring on the play.  A line out ended the threat.

Hegland finished with two hits to lead the Griffins.

SHU will close out their Florida trip with a pair of games on Friday against Holy Family and Wheeling.
