Seton Hill continued their Florida trip with a matchup with Wayne State (MI) at NE Regional Park in Davenport, Florida.
The Griffins cut the Wayne State lead to 3-2 but the Warriors scored nine times over the final three innings as they were able to run rule the Griffins in an 8 inning shortened contest in a 12-2 loss. SHU is now 6-5 on the season.
Wayne State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. SHU tied the score in the fourth.
Max Mandler scored and moved to second when
Logan Vietmeier reached on an error on a bunt.
Michael Gregos singled to load the bases and Mandler scored when
Braden Durham reached on a fielders choice.
The Warriors responded with two runs in the top half of the fifth inning as they took a 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Aidan Shephard and
Vincenzo Rauso walked to put runners on first and second.
Jack Oberdorf singled to drive in Shephard and make it 3-2.
Wayne State then added three runs in the sixth, two runs in the seventh and four runs in the eighth as they extended their lead to 12-2.
Mandler and Gregos each had two hits for the Griffins.
SHU will travel to Florida Southern for a matchup with the Mocs on Friday afternoon.
