Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Griffins Come Up Short at #20 St Leo

The Griffin women's lacrosse team played the second game of their spring trip and first game in Florida as they traveled to #20 Saint Leo on Tuesday evening.

The Lions were able to answer every Seton Hill goal in route to a 13-11 victory over the Griffins.  St Leo is now 4-0 while the Griffins drop to 2-2.

Saint Leo scored the first three goals of the contest as the Griffins found themselves down 3-0 just under seven minutes into the contest.  Elizabeth Tamasitis got the Griffins on the scoreboard with a goal with 5:45 left in the quarter.  Skylar Orlowski added a goal just over two minutes later and the Griffins trailed just 3-2.  The Lions scored the final two goals of the quarter to take a 5-2 lead.

Like the Lions did in the first quarter, the Griffins followed in the second quarter by scoring the first three goals.  Tamasitis scored a quick first goal to cut the lead to 5-3.  With just over twelve minutes remaining, Megan Bunker scored to cut the lead to one.  A minute later, Orlowski scored her second to tie the score at five.  St Leo answered back with three straight before Bunker scored with 1:10 to play before the half as SHU cut the lead to 8-6 at the half.

Just over a minute into the third quarter, Piper Conlan scored to trim the Lions lead to 8-7.  Tamasitis followed a Lions goal and SHU trailed 9-8 with 7:53 left in the quarter.  Conlan answered another Lions goal with her second with 2:16 to play as SHU trailed just 10-9.  The Lions got a huge goal with less than five seconds to play in the quarter to extend the lead to 11-9.

Orlowski answered a Lion goal and SHU still trailed by two, 12-10 with 12:32 to play.  St Leo got that goal right back and Ruby DePalma scored with 9:40 to play to cut the lead back to two at 13-11 but that would be the last goal of the game.

Orlowski and Tamasitis each scored three goals.  Orlowski added an assist.  Bunker and Conlan each scored twice with Bunker adding an assist.  Kyleigh Hessian made nine saves in cage.

SHU will conclude their Spring Break trip on Saturday at #10 Rollins.
