Seton Hill returned to action after a day off with a matchup with Ashland on Wednesday afternoon at NE Regional Park.

Seton Hill scored three times in the final two innings as they defeated Ashland by a 9-7 score. SHU is now 6-4 on the season.Â

The Griffins did not wait very long to get on the scoreboard.Â
Jack Whalen led off with a double to start the contest.Â
Jack Oberdorf drew a walk and
Max Mandler followed with a three run shot to center field as SHU took an early 3-0 lead.Â
Logan Vietmeier doubled and scored on two wild pitches as the Griffins took a 4-0 lead.Â

Ashland answered back with two runs on just one hit as they cut the Griffins lead in half to 4-2. The Griffins got those two runs back in the third inning.Â
Vincenzo Rauso singled to lead off the inning and Vietmeier followed with a double to put runners on second and third.Â
Braden Durham knocked in Rauso with a bunt single and Vietmeier scored on a sacrifice fly from
Michael Gregos to give SHU a 6-2 lead.Â

Ashland hit a solo homer with two outs in the sixth to cut the SHU lead to 6-3. The Eagles scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score at six with
Michael Gregos throwing out the go ahead run at the plate to end the inning.Â

Seton Hill responded in the top of the eighth. Pinch hitter
Colin Marinpetro was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. He was erased when
Michael Gregos reached on a fielders choice with Gregos advancing to second on a error.Â
Aidan Shephard then doubled down the left field line to give SHU a 7-6 lead. Oberdorf followed with a book rule double that landed right on the right field line that put the Griffins in front 8-6.Â

The Eagles got one run in the eighth but
Caiden Wood got a 1-6-3 double play to get out of a first and third, one out situation.Â

Vietmeier hit a bomb to left center field with one out in the top of the ninth to give the Griffins a 9-7 lead.Â
Â
Oberdorf and Vietmeier each had three hits. Shephard and Mandler added two hits. Wood earned the win with 2.1 innings of relief.Â

The Griffins will continue play on Thursday afternoon when they take on Wayne State (MI) at NE Regional Park.Â
