Seton Hill opened their spring trip with a matchup with #23 Mount Olive in North Carolina on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins picked up a big win as they opened their spring trip with a 14-12 victory over the Trojans in Mount Olive, NC. SHU is now 2-1 on the season.
After Mount Olive scored the first goal of the contest, the Griffins responded with three goals from
Tori Krapp,
Piper Conland and
Megan Bunker as SHU led 3-1 with 7:51 left in the quarter. The Trojans scored three straight before
Grace Agnello and
Carleigh Sutfin gave SHU a 5-4 lead after the first quarter.
The teams exchanged goals to open the second quarter with
Elizabeth Tamasitis scoring the two Griffin goals.
Ella Wroblewski scored with 5:46 to play in the half as the Griffins extended the lead to 8-6. The Trojans added two goals to tie the score at eight but
Hannah Thompson and Bunker scored to end the half and give SHU a 10-8 lead at the break.
There was not much scoring in the third quarter as the Griffins scored the final two goals of the quarter from Tamasitis and Conlan as they led 12-9 entering the fourth quarter.
Mount Olive scored three of the first four goals of the fourth quarter as they cut the SHU lead to 13-12 with 2:48 to play in the quarter.
Alaina TeSelle scored the one SHU goal in the first part of the quarter. SHU got a final goal from
Skylar Orlowski as they pushed their lead to 14-12 with 1:06 to play and Bunker got the draw as SHU was able to get the win.
Tamasitis led the Griffins with three goals. Sutfin added two goals and two assists. Bunker added two goals and an assist and Conlan added two goals.
Kyleigh Hessian added 11 saves.
Seton Hill will next play St Leo on Tuesday evening.
