Walk Off Wild Pitch Gives Griffins Ninth Straight Win

Seton Hill hosted West Liberty on Tuesday afternoon in a single nine inning non conference matchup.  

The Griffins won their ninth in a row on a walk off wild pitch in the bottom of the twelfth inning as they defeated West Liberty 6-5.  SHU is now 16-7 overall.  

West Liberty took a 3-0 lead over the Griffins in the top of the second inning on a three run homer.  The Griffins answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.  Logan Vietmeier singled to lead off the inning.  Later in the inning, Braden Durham him a two run homer to cut the Hilltopper lead to 3-2.  

Aidan Shephard, Jack Whalen and Max Mandler each singled to load the bases to start the bottom of the third.  Vincenzo Rauso hit into a double play with Shephard scoring to tie the game at three.  

Seton Hill took the lead in the fourth on a double steal by Drew Garth and Durham.  

The Hilltoppers took the lead back in the top of the fifth on a two run homer.  

SHU tied the score at five in the seventh.  Durham doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a Whalen infield single.  

Neither team was able to score until the bottom of the twelfth.  Rauso walked to lead off the inning and stole second.  He moved to third when Vietmeier reached on an error.  Later in the inning, Rauso scored on a wild pitch as SHU won by a 6-5 score.  

Whalen and Durham each had three hits for the Griffins.  Mandler added two hits.  

Seton Hill is scheduled to open a four game set with Pitt Johnstown on Friday afternoon.
