Big Second Half, Defense Carry Women's Lacrosse to PSAC West Win

The Griffin women's lacrosse team continued PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Slippery Rock at DSG Field.  

Seton Hill used a huge second half offensive output and stellar defense throughout the contest as they defeated the Rock by the score of 14-5.  SHU improves to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC West while the Rock falls to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the west.  

Piper Conlan opened the scoring with a goal just over four minutes into the contest.  Slippery Rock answered with two goals in just over a minute as they took a 2-1 lead 5:29 left in the quarter.  Skylar Orlowski scored with 2:53 left in the quarter to tie the score at two.  

The Griffins outscored the Rock 2-0 in the second quarter.  Carleigh Sutfin and Megan Bunker scored 36 seconds apart in the quarter as the Griffins took a 4-2 lead into the halftime break.  

Sutfin opened the second half scoring and Ruby DePalma scored with 11:33 to play in the third as SHU pushed their lead to 6-2.  The Rock answered with a goal but the Griffins scored three straight as they built a 9-3 lead with 2:13 remaining in the quarter.  Conlan, Orlowski and Mila Udovicic scored the Griffin goals.  The Rock scored with 1:14 left to cut the lead to 9-4.  

Orlowski scored with 9:30 to play in the fourth as the Griffins extended their lead to 10-4.  Less than a minute later, the Rock scored their final goal of the contest.  Conlan and Bunker scored 13 seconds apart as SHU built a 12-5 lead with 6:14 to play.  Sutfin and Udovicic scored the final two Griffin goals.  

Sutfin paced the Griffin offense with three goals and three assists.  Orlowski added three goals and two assists.  Conlan added three goals and an assist.  Udovicic added two goals and an assist.  Bunker finished with two goals and ten draw controls.  Bunker, Orlowski and Olivia McMahon each had three caused turnovers.  Kyleigh Hessian recorded ten saves in cage.  

The Griffins will continue PSAC West play on Wednesday when they host Gannon.
