Seton Hill made the trip to Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon for a PSAC West matchup with the Rock.
The Griffins used a big third quarter as they erased a four point halftime deficit in route to a 63-61 win over the Rock. SHU improves to 15-9 overall and 9-7 in the PSAC. Â

The Rock took an early lead over the Griffins, scoring the first six points of the contest, as they led 6-0 less than two minutes into the contest. A jumper from
Alie Seto and a three from
Hallie Cowan gave the Griffins their first lead of the game, 9-8, with 2:32 to play in the quarter. Slippery Rock led 12-11 after the first quarter of play. Â
Slippery Rock scored the first five points of the second quarter as they extended their lead to 17-11 less than a minute in. Eight straight points from the Cowan sisters, five from Helene and three from Hallie, put the Griffins back in front 19-17 with 5:38 to play before the half. The Rock then outscored the Griffins 12-6 over the remainder of the half as they took a 29-25 lead into the halftime break. Â
In the third quarter, the Griffins scored the first four points of the quarter to tie the score at 29. Five straight points from
Hallie Cowan gave SHU a 38-35 lead midway through the quarter. Two free throws from
Christiane Frye and a
Sakeria Haralson basket put the Griffins in front 48-43 before the Rock scored the final basket of the quarter as SHU led 48-45 after three quarters of play. Â
A Frye basket along with two
Hallie Cowan free throws pushed the Griffins lead to 56-47 with 6:30 to play in the contest. The Rock battled back to tie the score at 57 with 2:36 left. The teams exchanged baskets and the score was tied at 59 with 1:29 to play. Haralson hit two free throws to put the Griffins back in front 61-59 with 1:12 remaining. After a defensive stop, Seto hit two of two free throws to extend the SHU lead to 63-59 with 52 seconds left. The Rock hit a basket but missed a last second shot as SHU won by two.
Hallie Cowan led the Griffins with 19 points. Frye added 16 points. Seto also reached double figures with 12 points. Haralson added six points with 14 rebounds. Â
Seton Hill will look to make it three in a row when they travel to Clarion on Monday evening. Â
