Seton Hill hosted Gannon on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day as they honored six seniors prior to the game.
The Griffins pulled away in the second half as they defeated the Golden Knights 72-57 to improve to 16-11 overall and 11-10 in the PSAC.
SHU opened the scoring on a layup from
Uzziah Bird. Back to back baskets from
Michael Joiner and a three pointer from
Sean Dillon gave SHU a 9-2 lead with 15:28 left in the first half. Gannon got back to within two before back to back layups from
Caleb Whitaker put SHU in front 13-7 with 12 minutes to play in the half.
A layup from
Samuel Tabe and a Dillon three pointer extended the SHU lead to 22-13 with 7:14 to play. Gannon then went on a 12-3 run as they tied the score at 25. Dillon then hit two free throws before
Ryan Meis hit a three at the end of the first half to give SHU a 30-25 lead.
Gannon was able to cut the Griffins lead to two less than five minutes into the second half. Meis followed with a three to push the lead back to five. Gannon got back to within two, 38-36 with 11:11 left in the second half. Two Joiner free throws and a Dillon three pushed the lead back to 43-36 midway through the half.
A quick 7-0 run from the Griffins allowed SHU to extend their lead to double figures at 52-41 with 7:30 to play.
Jimmy Moon scored five of the seven points for the Griffins.
Gannon would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way as SHU was able to go 16-16 from the free throw line to close out the game.
Seton Hill finished 23-24 from the free throw line in the win.
Dillon led the Griffins with 17 points. Tabe finished with 14 points and Meis also reached double figures with 13 points.
SHU will close out the regular season with a home contest against Mercyhurst on Wednesday.
