Griffins Close Out 2023 With Win at Bloomsburg

Seton Hill closed out 2023 with a PSAC Crossover matchup at Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon.

The Griffins jumped out to a 51-32 halftime lead and cruised to a 84-69 victory over the Huskies.  SHU improves to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the PSAC.

Bloomsburg opened the scoring with a bucket before the Griffins scored the next ten points to take a 10-2 lead.  Jimmy Moon and Kedrick Curtis bookended the run with three pointers.  The Huskies answered with five straight before SHU went on a 6-0 run to take a 16-7 lead with 12:12 left in the half.  Four straight from Caleb Whitaker and a three pointer from Drew Green extended the lead to 23-9 midway through the half.

A Green layup and a three pointer from Ryan Meis gave SHU a twenty point lead, 41-21 with 4:11 to play in the half.  The Huskies got back to within 16 points but Moon drained a three before the halftime buzzer to put the Griffins in front 51-32 at the half.

A little over two minutes into the second half, the Huskies cut the SHU lead to fifteen at 56-41.  SHU responded with an 8-0 run on four points each from Whitaker and Gabe Gillespie.  Seven straight from the Huskies were answered by a Whitaker bucket and a Meis three which put the Griffins in front 69-48 midway through the half.

SHU built their lead to as many as twenty five before settling for the fifteen point win.

Green led the Griffins with a game high 21 points.  Whitaker added a double double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Gillespie added 12 points and Meis finished with 11.

The Griffins will close out PSAC Crossover action on Wednesday evening when they host Millersville.
