Griffins Complete Sweep of PSAC East Weekend

Seton Hill continued PSAC play with a PSAC Crossover matchup at Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Griffins scored the first seven points of the contest and never trailed in a 70-59 victory over the Raiders.  SHU is now 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC. 
 
SHU got off to a fast start, taking a 7-0 lead just two minutes into the contest.  Hallie Cowan and Christiane Frye had baskets sandwiched around a three pointer from Abby Mankins.  A three point plat from Sakeria Haralson and a three pointer from Helene Cowan extended the Griffins lead to 21-10 with 3:32 to play in the quarter.  Haralson, Nufi Nemale added threes over the remainder of the quarter and SHU took a 31-18 lead into the second quarter. 
 
Joi Burleigh opened the second quarter scoring and Numale added a free throw as SHU took their biggest lead of the contest, 34-18, with 7:54 left in the half.  Shippensburg cut the Griffins lead back to seven before four straight from Corinne Eisner pushed the lead back to 40-29 with 2:35 left.  The Raiders answered with seven straight but a Mankins three at the buzzer gave SHU a 43-36 halftime lead. 
 
Shippensburg cut the Griffins lead to three just under four minutes into the third quarter but the Griffins responded with an 11-0 run to take a 56-42 lead with 4:09 left in the quarter.  Hallie and Helene Cowan scored the first eight points of the run and Mia Kalich ended the run with a three point play.  The Raiders answered with six straight and the Griffins carried a 60-53 lead into the fourth quarter. 
 
The fourth quarter was low scoring compared to the other quarters as the Griffins outscored the Raiders 9-3 over the first eight and a half minutes to take a 69-56 lead. 
 
Frye and Helene Cowan each scored 16 points to lead the Griffins.  Hallie Cowan, Haralson and Mankins each finished with six points. 
 
The Griffins will take a break for finals before returning to the court on Tuesday, December 12th when they host Frostburg State.
