Griffins Lead From Start to Finish in Win

Seton Hill returned home and closed out non conference play with a matchup with Frostburg State on Tuesday evening.  

The Griffins led from start to finish in an 87-61 victory over the Bobcats.  SHU improves to 5-3 overall while the Bobcats fall to 6-4.  

SHU took an early 10-2 lead just over two minutes into the contest on three pointers from Abby Mankins and Hallie Cowan and baskets from Sakeria Haralson and Helene Cowan.  Back to back three pointers from Hallie Cowan and Mankins extended the lead to 16-4 midway through the quarter.  Hallie Cowan's three gave the Griffins their biggest lead of the quarter at 15, 26-11, with 2:06 to play.  SHU led 26-16 at the end of the first quarter.  

Seton Hill's lead remained between 10 and 14 points throughout the second quarter and the Griffins led 43-29 at the halftime break.  

After Frostburg hit a free throw to open the second half, Helene Cowan hit back to back three pointers as the Griffins took a 49-30 lead with 8:03 left in the quarter.  A minute later, Mankins hit another three pointer as the Griffins took a twenty point lead, 52-32.  The lead fluctuated between 13 and 20 the rest of the quarter and SHU led 68-50 after three quarters of play.  

Seton Hill put the game away with a 9-0 run to open the fourth quarter as they extended their lead to 77-50 with 8:27 left in the contest.  Helene Cowan had five of the nine points in the run.  With 6:07 to play, Paula Llovich hit a three pointer to give SHU a thirty point lead. 

Seton Hill shot 43% from the floor while holding Frostburg State to just 30% from the field.  The Griffins also forced 21 turnovers.  

Helene Cowan led the Griffins with 20 points.  Christiane Frye tossed in 17 points.  Mankins finished with 13 points and Hallie Cowan was the fourth Griffin in double figures with 12 points.  Llovich just missed double figures with nine points and Haralson just missed a double double with eight points and 11 rebounds.  

Seton Hill will return to PSAC play on Monday evening when they host Lock Haven in PSAC Crossover action.
