The Griffins opened PSAC play on Friday evening with a PSAC Crossover at Shepherd.

Seton Hill outscored Shepherd by ten in the second half in route to a 72-66 victory over the Rams. SHU improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC.Â

After Shepherd hit a three to open the contest, the Griffins responded with a three of their own from
Ryan Meis and a layup from
Caleb Whitaker to take an early 5-3 lead. SHU used a
Dimitrios Sklavenitis three pointer, two
James Rice free throws and a
Gabe Gillespie basket in a 7-0 run to take a 16-10 lead with 12:29 left before the half.Â

The Rams battled back to tie the game at 24 with 5:52 left. Two Gillespie free throws put the Griffins back in the lead. Over a two minute span, the Rams went on an 11-0 run as they built a 35-26 lead with just over three minutes left in the half.Â
Jimmy Moon followed with a three pointer while
Camden Brewer and
Kedrick Curtis added baskets as SHU cut the lead to 35-33 with 1:45 left. Shepherd led 40-36 at the halftime break.Â

Shepherd opened the second half with an 11-5 run as they built their lead to ten at the sixteen minute mark. Curtis ended the run with a three pointer that cut the Rams lead to 51-44. Brewer followed with a three point play and SHU trailed 51-47 with fifteen minutes to play. A basket from Sklavenitis and a three from Moon trimmed the lead to 53-52 at the ten minute mark.Â

The Griffins retook the lead, 54-53, on a layup from Curtis with 9:51 left. Five straight from
Ryan Meis put the Griffins in front 61-58 with 8:08 left. With the game tied at 62, SHU went on a 7-2 run to take a 69-64 lead with 3:31 to play. Rice opened the run with a three. Gillespie followed with a layup and Meis hit two free throws to give SHU a 69-64 lead with 3:31 left. SHU hit three free throws down the stretch to put the game away.Â

Meis led the Griffins with 17 points. Moon also reached double figures with 11 points. Curtis was the third Griffin in double figures with 10 points.Â

Seton Hill will continue PSAC Crossover action on Saturday when they travel to Shippensburg.Â
