Seton Hill continued their five match homestand with a PSAC West matchup with California (PA) on Friday night in the McKenna Center.
The Griffins cruised to a three set sweep of the Vulcans.
SHU scored the first five points of the first set to take a quick 5-0 lead.
Kendyl Wagner had two aces during the run. The Vulcans scored five of the next six points but the Griffins responded with an 11-0 run on the serve of
Kate Eden. Eden had four aces during the run. A kill from
Paige Cole gave SHU a 25-8 first set win.
California battled the Griffins early in the second set and led SHU 11-10 midway thru the set. Two kills from Cole, a Wagner ace and a
Elizabeth Kolkowski kill gave SHU a 14-11 lead and the Griffins would not trail again. Two aces from Cole extended the lead to 17-12. Two aces from
Catie Flohr pushed the Griffins lead to 23-14. The Griffins took a 2-0 lead with a 25-17 second set win.
The Griffins opened the third set with an 11-1 run. Kolkowski had four kills in the run. Late in the set, Flohr had two kills and then teamed with
Kaylee Mattera for two straight blocks as SHU built a 23-8 lead. Flohr ended the match with a kill as SHU won 25-9.
Flohr led the Griffins with 13 kills in just 17 attempts. Catie also led the Griffins with six blocks. Cole added eight kills and 12 digs while Kolkowski finished with seven kills.
Abby Oesterling led the offense with 18 assists. Eden finished with 13 assists and four aces. Wagner added four aces and 12 digs.
The Griffins will host Slippery Rock on Saturday for Senior Day.
