Men's Soccer Clinches PSAC Postseason Spot with Senior Day Win

Seton Hill hosted Slippery Rock on Senior Day with a PSAC Postseason spot on the line for the winner as the teams battled in a PSAC West contest on Friday afternoon.

The Griffins scored three goals in the second half as they earned the postseason berth with a 4-2 win over the Rock.  SHU is now 4-5-1 in the west while the Rock ends the season at 4-6.

Nevlyn Harper took Brandon Knapp's throw in and scored from about 25 yards out to open the scoring just 3:53 into the contest.  The Rock answered with a goal in the 25th minute to tie the score at one.  The teams entered the halftime break tied at one.  SHU held a 10-6 advantage in shots in the half.

Just 3:08 into the second half, the Griffins retook the lead.  A give and go between Oscar Heggem, Vasilis Christodoulou and James Aubrey set up the goal for Heggem as SHU took a 2-1 lead.  With just over 15 minutes remaining in the half, Ethan Opiela stole a pass back and put it into the back of the net to extend the Griffins lead to 3-1.  Seven minutes later Aubrey finished off Harper's corner kick to give SHU a 4-1 lead.  The Rock added a late PK for the final goal.

Harper and Aubrey each had a goal and assist for the Griffins.  Aiden Hollander recorded a save in the win.

SHU will begin the PSAC Tournament on Monday when they travel to second seed Mercyhurst in the PSAC Quarterfinal.  The game is set for a 6 PM start.
