Seton Hill continued their road trip with a nonconference matchup at Salem University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins led for a majority of the contest as they defeated Salem 63-51 for a nonconference victory in WV. SHU improves to 2-1 on the season.
SHU used a 7-0 run capped by a
James Rice three pointer as they took a 12-6 lead with 13:58 left in the first half. The Griffins relied on the three point ball in the first half as they hit five of them in the half.
Camden Brewer hit a three with 5:55 left that gave SHU a 23-16 lead.
Later in the half,
Ryan Meis drilled a three to extend the lead to eight at 28-20. The Griffins led 32-24 at the half. SHU also went 11-13 from the line in the half to help build the lead.
Salem scored the first four points of the second half but the Griffins answered right back with a layup from
Caleb Whitaker and a Meis three pointer to push the advantage back to nine early in the second half. Back to back buckets from
Gabe Gillespie and Whitaker gave SHU its first double digit lead of the game at 50-39 with 9:42 to play.
The Tigers cut the lead to six with four minutes to play but two
Kedrick Curtis free throws and a
Jimmy Moon three pointer put the game away.
Whitaker led SHU with 11 points. Meis and
Dimitrios Sklavenitis each added nine points. Rice finished with eight.
The Griffins return to action on Monday, November 27
th when they host Davis & Elkins in their home opener.
