Coatney's Brace Carries Griffins to PSAC West Win

Seton Hill returned home for the first time in two weeks as they hosted Edinboro at DSG Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Kilee Coatney scored a brace to lead the Griffins to a 3-2 win over the Fighting Scots.  SHU is now 3-5-1 overall and 2-5-1 in PSAC West play.

Coatney got the Griffins on the board in the 24th minute.  Brenna Springer drove down the right side of the field and found Coatney in the middle of the field, Kilee took a touch to the right and shot back to the left hand side of the net to beat the keeper and give SHU a 1-0 lead.  Edinboro responded a little over five minutes later with a goal to tie the contest at one.  The teams were tied at one at the halftime break.

The Griffins outshot the Scots 6-4 in the first half.

With just under twenty minutes left in the second half Coatney scored her second of the game.  Madisyn Ramacciotti took a free kick that landed near the PK spot and Coatney was able to get a piece of the pass and deflect it into the net to put the Griffins back in front 2-1.  Just over four minutes later, the Griffins increased their lead to 3-1.  Samantha Hallo drove the end line and cut back a pass to Jessica Molitoris in front of the net and Molitoris finished into the left side of the net for a 3-1 lead.  The Scots cut the lead to one with a little less than ten minutes to play but the Griffins were able to hold the Scots off the board over the final ten minutes to preserve the win.

SHU finished with 13 shots in the contest to 11 for Edinboro.

Coatney led SHU with a pair of goals.  Molitoris scored the game winner with Springer, Ramacciotti and Hallo each having an assist.  Sydney Caldwell made four saves in net.

SHU will travel to Slippery Rock on Saturday for another PSAC West contest.
