Slow Start Dooms Griffins at IUP

Seton Hill began PSAC West play on Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to Indiana (PA).
 
Indiana (PA) outscored the Griffins by a 28-12 margin in the first quarter and never looked back as they opened PSAC West play with a 77-60 victory over the Griffins.  SHU falls to 9-6 overall and 2-4 in the PSAC while IUP stays undefeated at 11-0 and 6-0 in the PSAC. 
 
Courtney Tomas scored four early points as the Griffins trailed Indiana (PA) 11-8 midway through the first quarter.  IUP hit back to back three pointers as they pushed their lead to 20-12 with two minutes remaining in the quarter.  IUP closed the quarter on an 11-0 run as SHU trailed 28-12 after one quarter of play.
 
IUP increased their lead to 35-16 midway through the second quarter.  The Crimson Hawks took a 40-18 lead into the halftime break.
 
The Griffins used a 14-5 run over the final 6:38 of the third quarter as they trimmed the IUP lead to 54-36 after three.  Tomas and Christiane Frye each had five points during the run. 
 
Seton Hill battled IUP in the fourth quarter and outscored the Crimson Hawks by one, 24-23. 
 
Tomas and Frye led the Griffins with 13 points each.  Alie Seto also reached double figures with 10 points.  Helene Cowan just missed double figures with eight points.
 
Seton Hill will continue PSAC West play on Saturday when they host Clarion at 1 PM.
