Frye's Career High Leads Griffins to PSAC West Win

Seton Hill continued PSAC West play at home as they hosted Slippery Rock in the McKenna Center on Wednesday evening,

Christiane Frye scored a career high 23 points to lead the Griffins to a 76-58 win over the Rock.  SHU improved to 11-6 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC while the Rock falls to 8-6 overall and 3-5 in the PSAC.

The Griffins got off to a good start as they took a 10-4 lead less than four minutes into the contest.  Hallie Cowan hit two three pointers in the early run.  The Rock battled back to get to within two before baskets from Alie Seto and Corinne Eisner put the Griffins in front 16-10 with three minutes remaining in the first.  The Rock scored the next five points but two free throws from Eisner and a layin from Frye gave SHU a 20-15 advantage after one quarter.

A basket from Frye and a three from Eisner gave SHU their largest lead to date, eight, at 25-17 with 7:05 to play in the half.  The Rock then went on a 12-0 run to take their first lead of the game and led 29-25 with 4:45 left in the quarter.  Hallie Cowan stopped the run with a three pointer.  The Rock would lead the rest of the half and took a 34-32 lead into the halftime break.

The game was tight over the first four minutes of the second half with neither team holding more than a two point lead.  A quick 7-0 run gave the Griffins the lead back at 45-39 with four minutes left in the quarter.  The Griffins would not give up the lead again and carried a nine point lead, 52-43, into the fourth quarter.

Seton Hill was able to put the game away with a 13-0 run in a two and a half minute stretch as they extended their lead to 71-49 with 3:21 left in the game.

The Griffins shot 47% from the floor while holding the Rock to just 35%.  SHU also forced 23 turnovers in the win.
