Seton Hill began PSAC West play on Saturday evening under the lights at #11 Slippery Rock.
The Griffins scored the first two points of the contest but the Rock scored the final 30 points of the contest in a 30-2 victory over Seton Hill. The Rock improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the west.
Both teams punted on their first possession of the contest. On the Griffins second possession, punter
Jack Wagner downed a punt at the Rock five yard line. That play led to a
Jahiem Thomas sack in the end zone which resulted in a safety and a 2-0 lead for the Griffins with 8:36 to play in the first quarter. Late in the quarter, the Rock scored on a 17 yard touchdown pass to take a 7-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Slippery Rock extended their lead to 10-2 on their first drive of the second quarter with a 35 yard field goal. Late in the half, the Rock extended their lead to 17-2 with a one yard touchdown run. The Rock carried the 17-2 lead into the halftime break.
On their first drive of the second half, the Rock pushed their lead to 23-2 with a one yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter,
Narrio Walks intercepted a Rock pass and returned it to the Rock 20 yard line. The Griffin offense could not get anything going and had to punt on 4th and 25 from the 35. The defense continued to force turnovers as
Dioh Desuah forced a fumble and
Musa Tama recovered it and returned it to the Rock 46.
The Rock forced a turnover on downs on the next Griffin drive.
Jaden Mack then recovered a fumble at the SHU 27 yard line. With 2:35 remaining in the contest, the Rock scored their final touchdown to take a 30-2 lead.
Hezikiah Hawkins had six receptions for 53 yards.
Jaylen McDuffie and Walks each had 11 total tackles.
Seton Hill continues PSAC West play next weekend at Gannon.
