Seton Hill hit the road to Erie, PA for a PSAC West matchup with Gannon on Saturday afternoon for Gannon's homecoming contest.
The Griffins were able to take a 10-7 lead but Gannon scored the final 14 points of the contest for a 21-10 win over the Griffins.
Seton Hill was able to force and three and out on the first possession for Gannon. The Knights then picked off the Griffins on their first possession and were able to take advantage of the short field, scoring on a 10 yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead over the Griffins with 5:39 to play in the quarter.
In their first possession of the second quarter, the Griffins were able to hold onto the ball for 15 plays but had to settle for a 21 yard
Jack Wagner field goal with cut the Knights lead to 7-3 with seven minutes to play in the second quarter. Late in the half, Gannon drove to the SHU 37 yard line but
Na'Sir Douglas intercepted a Knights pass to keep the game at 7-3 heading to the halftime break.
On the opening drive of the second half, the Griffins were able to take a 10-7 lead on a 51 yard touchdown pass from
Jake McCormick to
Mark Bails which put the Griffins in front with 13:18 left in the quarter. Gannon answered right back with a seven play, 75 yard drive to retake the lead. They completed a 26 yard pass for a touchdown to take a 14-10 lead with ten minutes left. Gannon carried the 14-10 lead into the fourth quarter.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Gannon marched 63 yards on 10 plays to extend their lead to 21-10 on a six yard touchdown run. The Knights forced a turnover on downs on the next Griffin possession and were able to run out the clock for the win.
JaiQuawn McGriff rushed for 62 yards in the loss.
Mark Bails finished with 59 yards in the air and one touchdown.
Hezikiah Hawkins added four catches.
Narrio Walks led the defense with 13 total tackles including a sack.
Jaylen McDuffie added 11 tackles with 3 tackles for loss.
SHU will continue PSAC West play next weekend when they host Clarion on Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 4 PM.
