Griffins Fall in PSAC Crossover at Home with East Stroudsburg

Seton Hill began the home portion of their schedule with a PSAC Crossover matchup with East Stroudburg on Saturday afternoon at Offutt Field.  

East Stroudsburg kicked five field goals and added a fourth quarter touchdown as they defeated the Griffins by the score of 22-7.  SHU falls to 0-3 overall while East Stroudsburg improves to 1-2 on the season.  

Each team punted on their first possession of the contest.  East Stroudburg then took advantage of a short field and moved 44 yards on six plays, the final one a 26 yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead with 7:43 to play in the first quarter.  Neither team was able to score the rest of the quarter and the Warriors carried a 3-0 lead into the second quarter.  

On their second possession of the second quarter, the Warrior took advantage of a short punt and finished the drive with a 50 yard field goal as they extended their lead to 6-0 midway through the quarter.  The Warriors got a interception late in the quarter and turned that into a 35 yard field goal on the final play of the half as they took a 9-0 lead into the halftime break.  

The Warriors kicked their fourth field goal of the contest, this one from 46 yards out, with 7:45 to play as they extended their lead to 12-0.  On the first play of their next series, Ky'Ron Craggette raced 75 yards to the house to cut the Warrior lead to 12-7 with 7:31 to play in the quarter.  ESU drove to the Griffin 35 yard line at the end of the third quarter after a 14 yard punt gave the Warriors a very short field.  

The Griffins were able to get a stop on the first play of the fourth quarter when a 52 yard field goal attempt came up short.  ESU got an interception on the next SHU drive and turned that into a 45 yard touchdown pass as they extended their lead to 19-7 with 11:44 to play.  The Warriors added a late field goal to extend the lead to 22-7.  

SHU held ESU to just 73 yards rushing and the defense limited ESU to just one of fourteen third down conversions.  The Griffins rushed for 147 yards in the contest.  SHU had 10 first downs to 12 for the Warriors.  

Craggette rushed for 100 yards on six carries and the one touchdown.  JaiQuawn McGriff added 43 yards on the ground.  Taiyon Battle and Mark Bails each had three catches.  Taz Morris had 76 return yards on three kick returns.  

Narrio Walks led the defense with 12 total tackles, including two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one QB hurry.  Jaylen McDuffie added nine total tackles.  Jaden Mack finished with seven total tackles, three for loss.

SHU will begin PSAC West play next Saturday when they travel to Slippery Rock for a 6 PM kickoff.
