Griffins Split at D&E Top Hat Classic

Seton Hill closed out play in the Davis & Elkins Top Hat Classic with a pair of matches on Saturday.  SHU opened with a matchup with Elizabeth City State and closed out the tourney with a match with the host D&E. 
 
The Griffins opened the day with a sweep of Elizabeth City State.  They ended the tourney with a tough five set loss to Davis & Elkins.  SHU finished the tourney with a 3-1 record.
 
The match between the Griffins and Elizabeth City was a tight out throughout.  SHU won a hard fought first set by a 26-24 score.  They made it 2-0 with a 28-26 win in the second set.  SHU then closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the third set. 
 
Bobbi Rempe led the Griffins with 10 kills and five blocks.  Paige Cole added eight kills while Mara Yahner and Payton Rodberg each added six.  Abby Oesterling led the offense with 16 kills.  Abby also had four aces.  Riley Rock added 10 assists.  Carrie Leazer led SHU with 15 digs.
 
Davis & Elkins took the first two sets of the match by the scores of 25-20 and 25-18.  Seton Hill responded with a 25-18 in in the third set before tying the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.  The Senators closed out the match with a 15-10 win in the fifth set. 
 
Yahner led the Griffins with 16 kills.  Rempe added 14 kills.  Cole finished with 11.  Oesterling ran the offense with 30 assists.  Leazer added 16 digs while Cole finished with 15. 
 
The Griffins will travel to Cedarville next weekend for the Cedarville Tournament.
