Baseball Gets Non Conference Home Win

Seton Hill continued non conference play with a nine inning single contest at home against Wheeling. 
 
The Griffins scored in five of the eight innings they hit for an 11-3 win over the Cardinals.  SHU is now 26-14-1 on the season. 
 
Wheeling scored twice in the top of the second inning to take an early 2-0 lead over the Griffins. 
 
SHU responded with single runs in their half of the second and third innings.  In the second, Neal McDermott drew a leadoff walk.  He moved to third on an Isaiah DiAndreth single.  Braden Durham walked to load the bases.  Later in the inning, DiAndreth scored when Nate Dorinsky reached on a fielders choice.  In the third, Max Mandler was hit by a pitch, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Jack Oberdorf sacrifice fly. 
 
The Griffins took the lead in the fourth inning with two runs.  Durham led off with a bunt base hit.  After a sacrifice bunt from Owen Sabol, Dorinsky homered over the wall in left to give SHU a 4-2 lead. 
 
SHU added two more runs in the sixth inning.  With one out, Durham doubled.  He later scored on a wild pitch.  Brandon Kline singled to drive in the sixth run. 
 
The Griffins used four walks to lead off the inning as they scored five times in the seventh.  Sabol had a two RBI triple in the inning.
 
McDermott and Durham each had two hits for SHU.  Dorinsky drove in four and Sabol knocked in two.  Brian Pirone earned the win with five scoreless innings of relief.  He struck out eight.   
 
The Griffins will begin a four game PSAC West set with a doubleheader at Mercyhurst on Friday afternoon.
