Seton Hill closed out their four game set against Slippery Rock with a home doubleheader in Greensburg on Saturday.
After winning both games on Friday in Slippery Rock, the Rock completed the four game sweep of the Griffins with a pair of wins on Saturday. Slippery Rock won game one by a 3-0 score then completed the four game sweep with a 2-1 win in eight innings. It is the first time since joining the PSAC that the Griffins were swept in a four game PSAC West set. SHU is now 23-11-1 overall and 9-7 in the West. The Rock improved to 23-9 overall and 9-7 in the West.
The Rock used a single, wild pitch and single in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins. They added two more runs in the top of the third inning on back to back doubles and an RBI single that gave the Rock a 3-0 lead.
Seton Hill got a leadoff double in the fourth from
Vincenzo Rauso but he was stranded on third base.
Noah Sweeney doubled with two outs in the fifth inning.
The Rock again took a lead over the Griffins in game two in the top of the fourth inning with a one out RBI single.
SHU responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
Drew Garth led off the inning with a double. He moved to third on a Sweeney ground out and then scored when
Neal McDermott singled up the middle to tie the score at one.
The game remained tied at one until the top of the eighth inning when the Rock homered to center field with one out on an 0-0 pitch.
McDermott had two hits for the Griffins.
Ian Korn worked three scoreless innings of relief. He struck out three in three innings.
SHU Is scheduled to host Wheeling on Tuesday afternoon in a non conference matchup.
