Softball Splits With Gannon

Seton Hill continued PSAC West play on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted Gannon in Greensburg.

The Golden Knights defeated the Griffins by a 4-1 score in game one but the Griffins responded for a 1-0 win in game two to earn a split of the doubleheader.  SHU is now 26-7 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC West.

The Griffins took the lead in the first inning of game one.  Nichole McClendon walked to lead off the inning.  She moved to second on a ground out and then moved to third on a Lauren Dellett single.  Morgan Toal gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly that scored McClendon.

Gannon took the lead with a two run homer in the top of the third inning.  They added single runs in the fourth and seventh innings for the 4-1 win.

Four Griffins each had a single in game one.

Game two was a pitchers dual between SHU's Morgan Ryan and Gannon's Gabi Vasi.  Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard until the bottom of the sixth inning.

Natalia Greco walked to load off the inning.  She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Grace Paredes and then moved to third on a ground out.  Greco scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a 1-0 lead.

Ryan then retired the Knights in order in the seventh inning.

Toal had a single for the Griffins.

SHU will travel to Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon for a PSAC West contest.
