Griffins Split a Pair of Games

Seton Hill continued play on their spring trip in Florida on Wednesday afternoon with the only change being a shifting in the site to the Auburndale Softball Complex in Auburndale, FL. 
 
The Griffins began the day with a matchup with Wayne State College and concluded the day with a matchup with Bemidji State. 
 
SHU managed just four hits in a 6-3 loss to Wayne State College.  The Griffins responded with a 7-1 rain shortened win in game two.  SHU is now 9-2 on the season. 
 
Wayne State College jumped on the Griffins for a run in the top of the first inning.  They used a one out double and a two out single to take the 1-0 lead.  The Wildcats then strung together three singles to increase their lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning. 
 
Seton Hill got one run back in the second.  Morgan Toal drew a leadoff walk.  She moved to third when Nichole McClendon reached on an error.  Brooklyn Fukushima reached on a fielders choice to load the bases.  Later in the inning McClendon scored on a wild pitch to cut the Wayne State lead to 2-1. 
 
The Griffins tied the game at two in the third.  With one out, Brooke Cleland drew a walk.  Pinch runner Natalia Greco then moved to third on a single from Jenna Osikowicz.  Greco scored to tie the game on an RBI groundout from Lauren Dellett
 
The Wildcats took advantage of a Griffin throwing error to retake the lead in the top of the fifth with an unearned run.  Wayne Sate added two more runs in the sixth inning to increase their lead to 5-2. 
 
SHU got one run back in the sixth.  Toal singled and moved to second on a wild pitch.  Morgan moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from McClendon and then scored on a wild pitch. 
 
Osikowicz led SHU with two hits against Wayne State College.
 
SHU took a 3-0 lead over Bemidji in the top of the second of game two.  Morgan Ryan drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a McClendon single.  Alex Walsh then singled down the right field line to score Ryan.  Fukushima then drove in McClendon with a sacrifice fly.  Later in the inning Logan Hartman singled in Nina Grandey who singled. 
 
After the Beavers got one in the bottom half of the inning, Osikowicz led off the third with a liner over the right center field wall to give SHU a 4-1 lead.  Ryan then walked, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and later scored when Walsh reached on an error. 
 
Seton Hill added another run in the fourth.  Grandey drew a leadoff walk and scored when Toal singled to right field.  They made it 7-1 in the fifth when pinch runner Natalie Greco stole third and scored on an error.
 
Walsh had two hits for the Griffins.  Logan Hartman improved to 2-0 with the complete game win.  She gave up one run on three hits and struck out three.
 
The Griffins will be off on Thursday before returning to action on Friday with a doubleheader.
