Seton Hill returned to play in Florida after a day off on Thursday with a pair of games on Friday afternoon in the Diamond Plex in Winter Haven. The Griffins took on Ashland in the first game and Trevecca Nazarene in game two.
SHU used a strong offense for an 11-3, five inning win over Ashland in game one. The Griffins then scored five times in their first two at bats for a 5-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene. SHU improved to 11-2 on the season.
The Griffins got off to a fast start in game one with five runs in the bottom of the first.
Nichole McClendon drew a leadoff walk. She moved to second on a
Jenna Osikowicz single. After an out,
Morgan Toal lined a ball over the left field wall to give SHU a 3-0 lead.
Morgan Ryan doubled and scored when
Brooklyn Fukushima homered to center field.
Ashland answered back with a two run homer in the top of the second inning. SHU got those runs right back in the bottom half of the inning. McClendon walked with one out and Osikowicz singled to put runners on first and second. Both runners stole and McClendon scored on
Lauren Dellett's RBI single. Osikowicz later scored when a Griffin was caught stealing to give SHU a 7-2 lead.
SHU added three more runs in the third on RBI hits from
Natalia Greco and McClendon. Toal's second blast of the game made it 11-3 in the fourth.
Toal was 3-3 with two homers and four RBI in the win.
Jenna Osikowicz added two hits.
Mallory Skelly with three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
In the top of the first of game two, Osikowicz doubled with one out. She moved to third on a Ryan single and scored on a Toal sacrifice fly.
The Griffins then struck for four runs in the second inning. Fukushima reached on an error to open the inning. Greco moved the runner up with a sacrifice bunt.
