Strong Second Quarter Carries Griffins to Win

The Griffin women's lacrosse team continued their spring break trip with a neutral site contest against Concordia-St Paul at St Leo University on Monday afternoon.  

Seton Hill used a 6-0 second quarter to defeat Concordia St Paul by a 13-6 score to improve to 3-1 on the season.  CSP falls to 4-3 on the season.

Concordia St Paul scored the first goal of the game to take an early 1-0 lead.  The Griffins then responded with the next nine goals to take control of the game.  Jaclyn Frank tied the game at one midway through the quarter.  Late in the quarter, Skylar Orlowski and Megan Bunker scored goals a minute apart to take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter.  

The second quarter was all Seton Hill as they outscored the Bears by a 6-0 score.  Grace Agnello opened the scoring with a man up goal.  Orlowski and Piper Conlan scored 37 seconds apart to give SHU a 6-1 lead.  Orlowski then added two more goals and Ella Wroblewski scored her first collegiate goal to end the scoring in the half and give SHU a 9-1 halftime lead.  

CSP opened the second half scoring with a goal just 16 seconds into the half.  Bunker answered that CSP goal with a goal to make it 10-2.  Conlan followed with a goal and SHU led by nine with 10:44 to play.  The Bears scored the next three goals to cut the SHU lead to 11-5 with 7:13 to play in the game.  Hannah Thompson and Bunker scored the final two goals for the Griffins.

Orlowski led the Griffins with four goals.  Bunker finished with three goals and 10 draw controls.  Conlan added two goals.  Frank led SHU with seven points on a goal and six assists. Thompson also added a goal and an assist.  Makayla Kintner had a strong defensive game with five draw controls, three caused turnovers and one ground ball.  Kamille Ward made 11 saves for the win.

SHU will next travel to St Leo on Thursday evening for another non conference matchup with the Lions.
