Seton Hill played the final game of their three-game Florida trip Thursday night when they took on #23 St. Leo. A milestone goal early in the game set the tone, as the 18th-ranked Griffins dominated from start to finish in an 18-10 win to improve to 4-1 this season.
The milestone goal came from
Jaclyn Frank, who scored just 46 seconds into the game for a 1-0 SHU lead. The goal was the 100th of Frank's career and started a big scoring day for her and the Griffins. She also assisted on the second goal of the game, scored by
Carleigh Sutfin. Seton Hill would continue building on their lead for a 6-3 advantage after the first quarter, as both
Piper Conlan and
Alaina TeSelle scored twice each by the end of the period.
The second quarter was scoreless through the first three minutes before
Skylar Orlowski struck for her first goal of the game. St. Leo matched that goal 40 seconds later, but Seton Hill closed the half with a big run. over the final seven minutes.
Hannah Thompson scored twice and Conlan scored once for three goals in a span of 2:51. Conlan scored again with 30 seconds to play and despite a St. Leo goal as time expired, Seton Hill took an 11-5 lead into halftime.
St. Leo struck for the first goal of the second half, but Seton Hill responded 11 seconds later with a goal by
Megan Bunker. The middle of the period saw another quick burst from the Griffins, as Bunker, Frank and Orlowski scored in a 96-second span to make it a nine-goal cushion. A St. Leo tally was answered by Orlowski's third goal of the night to make it a 16-7 SHU lead going into the final quarter.
Joining the scoring barrage in the fourth was
Grace Agnello, who tallied a pair of goals to complete the scoring for the Griffins in the victory. It was a dominant performance on many fronts for Seton Hill, who outshot St. Leo 34-21 and held a 21-10 advantage in draw controls. Earning the win in goal for the Griffins was
Kamille Ward, who stopped six shots, while a strong defensive game was turned in by
Colleen Roy with three ground balls and two caused turnovers, both team-highs.
On the offensive side, Frank's milestone goal started the scoring and she would finish the night with nine points on two goals and seven assists. Conlan had the team-high in goals with four in the win, while Orlowski posted three goals and three assists for six points. TeSelle had a pair of goals and one assist for three points, while Bunker, Agnello and Thompson had two goals each and Sutfin scored one.
Now with the spring break trip complete, Seton Hill will return north to open up PSAC West play on March 16th when they host IUP at 3 pm.
