Griffins Defeat Millersville to Open Spring Trip

Seton Hill began their 2022 spring trip with a matchup against PSAC East foe Millersville in Winter Haven, Florida on Sunday morning. 
 
SHU won game one of the day by an 11-4 score over Millersville.  Game two was canceled due to the Spring Games not allowing any of the umpires to do the 11:15 AM games. SHU improves to 6-0 on the season.
 
The Griffins got on the board first in the top of the first of game one.  Nichole McClendon led off the game with a single.  She stole second and third then scored on a Brooke Cleland triple to right field. 
 
Millersville used a two run homer in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-1 lead over the Griffins.
 
Seton Hill retook the lead in the top of the third inning.  Grace Paredes led off the inning with a single.  McClendon then reached on a fielders choice and scored when Jenna Osikowicz tripled to the right center field gap.  Cleland gave the Griffins a 3-2 lead with a sacrifice fly.
 
The Griffins added two more in the fourth inning.  Mackenzie Zang started the scoring with an RBI single.  Paredes then scored when Osikowicz reached on an error to make it 5-2. 
 
SHU broke the game open in the top of the fifth with five unearned runs.  Zang singled in a run to start the scoring and another run scored on an error.  McClendon knocked in two runs with a single and Osikowicz made it 10-3 with an RBI triple. 
 
Seton Hill answered the Millersville run with a run of their own in the top of the sixth without a hit. 
 
Chloe Elliott earned the win for the Griffins.  Lauren Dellett earned the save.  McClendon, Osikowicz, Toal and Zang all with three hits.
 
The Griffins continue their Florida spring break trip on Monday with a doubleheader against WV Wesleyan and Notre Dame (OH).
