The Griffins continued their spring break trip with a matchup with Ashland on Sunday evening at the NE Regional Park in Davenport, Florida.
Seton Hill improved to 2-0 on their spring trip with a 10-1 win over the Eagles. SHU broke the game open with seven runs over their final four innings. The Griffins improve to 6-1 on the season.
SHU took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
Jack Oberdorf led off with a single.
Braden Durham reached on an infield single and
Neal McDermott singled to load the bases. When
Nate Dorinsky reached on a fielders choice both Oberdorf and Durham scored to give SHU a 2-0 lead.
The Griffins increased their lead to 3-1 in the fourth inning. With two outs, Durham struck out but reached on a wild pitch. That paid off for the Griffins as
Neal McDermott lined a ball off the left center field wall to drive in Durham and give SHU a 3-1 lead.
SHU added an insurance run in the sixth after Dorinsky scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-1.
Zachary Ramach added another insurance run when he launched a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall in the top of the seventh inning.
The Griffins increased their lead to 9-1 in the eighth inning.
Isaiah DiAndreth scored on an Oberdorf single and Ramach added two more RBIs on a single.
Andino Vecchiolla earned his first win of the season with three scoreless innings. He struck out five and gave up just one hit. Oberdorf and McDermott each had two hits for the Griffins. Ramach added two hits and three RBI.
Seton Hill will continue their trip on Monday afternoon against highly ranked Tampa.
