Women's Lacrosse Begins Florida Trip with Loss at Embry Riddle

Seton Hill began their spring break trip in Daytona Beach, Florida with a matchup with Embry Riddle on Saturday afternoon.  

The Griffins outscored Embry Riddle 5-2 in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the Eagles defeated the Griffins by a 15-13 score.  SHU falls to 2-1 on the season while the #24 Eagles improve to 5-0.  

Skylar Orlowski scored just 36 seconds into the contest to give the Griffins the early 1-0 lead.  Jaclyn Frank scored with 7:16 to play to tie the score at two but the Eagles scored the final four goals of the quarter to build a 6-2 lead.  

Embry Riddle opened the scoring in the second quarter before Alaina TeSelle and Orlowski scored 21 seconds apart to cut the lead to 7-4 with 9:05 left in the half.  The Eagles answered with three goals to build their lead to 10-4.  Piper Conlan and Jaclyn Frank responded for the Griffins but the Eagles scored the final goal of the half to take an 11-6 lead.  

Each team scored twice in the third quarter with Megan Bunker and Frank scoring for the Griffins.  

Alaina TeSelle and Hannah Thompson scored for SHU to begin the fourth quarter as SHU cut the lead to 13-10 with 11 minutes to play.  Carleig Sutfin scored between two Eagles goals and SHU was down 15-11 with 4:16 to play.  Orlowski scored twice in just over a minute to trim the lead to 15-13 with 2:50 to play but SHU could not get any closer. 

Orlowski led SHU with four goals and an assist.  Frank finished with three goals and two assists.  TeSelle scored twice and Sutfin and Conlin scored a goal and added an assist.  

SHU will now take on Concordia St Paul on Monday afternoon at St Leo.
