Women's Lacrosse Wins Third Straight PSAC West Contest

Seton Hill made the trip to the middle of the state for a PSAC West contest in Lock Haven on Wednesday afternoon.  

The Griffins built a halftime lead of 10-5 and held on for a 14-13 victory over the Bald Eagles.  SHU has now won three straight PSAC West contests and is 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the west. 

The teams exchanged goals over the first thirteen minutes of the first quarter as the score was tied at three.  Piper Conlan scored two of the first three goals with Hannah Thompson scoring the other.  Alaina TeSelle and Conlan scored fourteen seconds apart in the final minute of the quarter to give the Griffins a 5-3 lead after the first quarter.  

Megan Bunker, Carleigh Sutfin and TeSelle scored in the first four minutes of the second quarter as the Griffins took an 8-3 lead with just under twelve minutes remaining in the half.  After Lock Haven scored one to cut the lead to four, Conlan scored back to back within a minute to push the lead to 10-4 with 3:50 to play.  Lock Haven scored the final goal of the half as SHU led 10-5 at the half.  

Jaclyn Frank scored just over three minutes into the second half to build the SHU lead to 11-6.  Two straight from LHU cut the SHU advantage to three but Conlan and TeSelle scored the final two goals of the quarter as SHU took a 13-8 lead into the fourth quarter.  

Lock Haven began the fourth quarter by scoring four straight goals as they trimmed the SHU lead to 13-12 with 4:39 left.  Grace Agnello answered the Lock Haven goal with a goal to put SHU back in front 14-12 with 3:20 to play.  Lock Haven trimmed the SHU lead to 14-13 with 1:45 to play.  Bunker then won the following draw and the Griffins were able to run out most of the clock and end the contest.

Conlan scored a career high six goals to lead the Griffins.  She added an assist.  TeSelle finished with three goals and an assist.  Bunker finished with a goal, assist and 14 draw controls.  Skylar Orlowski added two assists.  

The Griffins will continue PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon when they host Edinboro.
