Softball Completes Four Game Sweep of Shippensburg

Seton Hill closed out their four game set with Shippensburg with a doubleheader in Shippensburg on Sunday afternoon.

The Griffins used the arm and bat of Morgan Ryan for a 3-1 win in game one.    SHU completed the four game sweep with a 7-2 win in game two.  Seton Hill has won seven in a row and is 20-3 on the season.

SHU got on the board first in the top of the first inning.  With one out, Jenna Osikowicz singled.  She later stole second then moved to third on a wild pitch.  Osikowicz scored on a wild pitch when Morgan Toal walked.

Ship tied the game in the fourth on a two out single.  The Griffins then played long ball in the fifth inning to retake the lead.  With one out, Osikowicz and Ryan went back to back to give SHU a 3-1 lead.

Ryan earned her seventh win of the season with a complete game six hitter.  She struck out six in the win.  Osikowicz had two hits to lead the Griffins.

Seton Hill again scored first in game two.  They scored twice in the second inning.  Toal doubled to lead off the inning.  Brooklyn Fukushima reached on an infield single to put runners on first and second.  Both runners moved up on a wild pitch.  Grace Paredes then grounded out with Toal getting caught between third and home for the second out.  Natalia Greco singled to score Fukushima.  She stole second and scored when Mackenzie Zang reached on an error to give SHU a 2-0 lead.

The Griffins then added on in the third inning.  Nichole McClendon led off with a single.  She moved to third on a single from Ryan.  McClendon scored on an RBI groundout from Toal.

The Raiders scored a run and loaded the bases in the fourth but Chloe Elliott got a strikeout to end the threat.

SHU got that run right back in the fifth.  Ryan drew a walk and pinch runner Nina Grandey advanced to third on a Toal single.  Grandey then scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a 4-1 lead.

Ship got a leadoff homer in the fifth before the Griffins scored the final three runs of the game in the seventh.  Osikowicz drew a leadoff walk and scored on a Ryan triple.  Toal then reached on an infield single and both runners scored when Paredes singled up the middle.
