Vecchiolla Dominant as Griffins Sweep Four Game Set from UPJ

Seton Hill closed out their four game PSAC West set with Pitt Johnstown on Friday afternoon in Greensburg.
 
The Griffins scored three times in the sixth inning for a 6-3 win in game one.  SHU completed the four game sweep with a 9-0 win in game two.  The Griffins are now 15-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the west. 
 
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead over UPJ in the bottom of the first inning.  With two outs, Isaiah DiAndreth doubled over the left fielder's head.  Jack Oberdorf followed with an RBI single to score DiAndreth and give SHU the lead. 
 
Pitt Johnstown tied the score at one with a solo homer in the top of the second inning. 
 
Seton Hill took the lead in the fifth inning.  With one out DiAndreth was hit by a pitch.  Oberdorf singled thru the left side and Neal McDermott reached on an error to load the bases.  After a strikeout, DiAndreth scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a lead.  Oberdorf then scored on a Drew Garth single to make it 3-1. 
 
Pitt Johnstown tied the game at three with a two out, two run homer in the top of the sixth inning. 
 
SHU responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Max Mandler drew a leadoff walk.  He stole second and moved to third on a Owen Sabol single.  Vincenzo Rauso was walked intentionally to load the bases.  DiAndreth singled to give SHU the 4-3 lead.  Oberdorf added a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3 and McDermott made it 6-3 with an RBI single. 
 
Nash Bryan earned the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.  Aidan Layton started, going 4.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits.  Oberdorf led SHU with three hits.  Rauso, DiAndreth and Garth each added two hits.
 
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the second inning thanks to an unearned run.  Garth, who singled, scored when Brett Morris reached on an error. 
 
The Griffins increased their lead to 4-0 in the third inning with five singles.  Sabol led off the inning with a single.  After an out, DiAndreth singled to put runners on first and second.  Oberdorf singled to score Sabol and give SHU a 2-0 lead.  McDermott followed with a single to load the bases.  Garth singled to score DiAndreth and Oberdorf scored when Mandler reached on a fielders choice. 
 
SHU added four insurance runs in the sixth inning.  Noah Sweeney drew a walk and moved to second on a passed ball.  He scored on a single from Rauso.  DiAndreth followed with a single to put runners on first and second.  Oberdorf cleared the bases with a homer to left center field, giving SHU am 8-0 lead.  Mandler added an RBI single to increase the lead to nine. 
 
Andino Vecchiolla earned the win with the complete game, three hit shutout.  He struck out eleven in the win. 
 
Oberdorf paced the offense with three hits and four RBI.  DiAndreth and Garth each added two hits.
 
The Griffins will take on Lock Haven in a non conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
