Before heading south for their spring break trip, the Griffin women's lacrosse team traveled to Canton, OH for a non conference matchup with Walsh.
The Griffins outscored the Cavaliers in each of the four quarters in route to a 17-8 victory. SHU improves to 2-0 on the season while Walsh falls to 1-2.
Skylar Orlowski scored the first two Griffin goals and
Jaclyn Frank added the third as SHU built a 3-1 lead with five minutes to play in the first quarter. After Walsh cut the lead to one,
Ella Wroblewski and Orlowski scored before the end of the quarter as the Griffins took a 5-2 lead into the second quarter.
SHU extended their lead to 9-2 by scoring the first four goals of the second quarter. Orlowski scored twice and Conlan and Frank each added a goal as SHU led by seven with 5:49 to play in the half. Walsh scored the final two goals of the quarter as SHU led 9-4 at the half.
Conlan scored twice to open the Griffins scoring in the second half. Frank's third goal of the game extended the Griffins lead to 12-5 with 4:29 to play in the third quarter.
Conlan and Orlowski scored just twenty seconds apart to start the scoring in the fourth quarter which gave SHU a 14-6 lead with 9:17 to play.
Hannah Thompson,
Grace Agnello and
Megan Bunker scored the final three goals for the Griffins.
Orlowski led the Griffins with six goals and three assists. Conlan finished with four goals and two assists. Frank added three goals and two assists.
Kamille Ward recorded 13 saves in cage for the win.
The Griffins will take on Embry Riddle on Saturday evening in Daytona Beach, Florida.
