The women's lacrosse team continued PSAC West action with a road game at Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon.
The Rock jumped out to a 6-1 lead on the Griffins and never looked back in a 12-7 win over the Griffins. SHU drops to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the west while the Rock improves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the west. Â
Slippery Rock scored the first two goals of the contest as they led 2-0 with 8:53 to play in the first quarter.Â
Skylar Orlowski got the Griffins on the board with a goal with 7:25 to play to cut the Rock lead to 2-1. The Rock answered just 12 seconds later and then scored the final goal of the quarter as they took a 4-1 lead into the second period. Â
The Rock scored two goals just over a minute apart early in the second quarter as they extended their lead to 6-1 just over two minutes into the quarter.  Just over a minute later,
Jaclyn Frank cut the Rock lead to 6-2. Another pair of Slippery Rock goals allowed them to extend their lead to six midway through the quarter.Â
Ella Wroblewski scored the final Griffin goal of the half as SHU entered the locker room trailing 9-3. Â
There was not much scoring in the third quarter as the Rock outscored the Griffins 2-1. Frank had the lone SHU goal in the quarter. Â
Slippery Rock scored their final goal early in the fourth quarter and then the Griffins scored the final three goals in the 12-7 loss. Frank scored twice and Orlowski added the other goal.
Frank led the Griffins with four goals. Orlowski added two. Â
The Griffins will travel to Mercyhurst on Tuesday afternoon for another PSAC West contest. Â
