Griffins Rally for 5-4 Win Over Walsh

Seton Hill returned home from their spring trip with a home non conference matchup with Walsh on Wednesday afternoon in Greensburg.

The Griffins rallied for a 5-4 win over the Cavaliers to complete the three game sweep of Walsh.  SHU is now 8-4-1 on the season.

Walsh took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins with a solo homer with one out in the top of the first inning.  The Cavaliers added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning on four hits including a key two out, two RBI double.

SHU cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning.  With one out, Tanner Froehlich singled and moved to second on a wild pitch.  He later scored on a two out, RBI double from Zachary Ramach.  Owen Sabol then followed with an RBI double to score Ramach and cut the lead to one.

The Griffins tied the score at three in the sixth inning.  Drew Garth drew a two out walk.  Pinch runner Blake Barker then scored on a double to the left center field gap from Nate Dorinsky.

Seton Hill took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Brandon Kline drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a Ramach bunt.  Sabol then singled to put runners on first and third.  Kline scored on a well executed squeeze play by Vincenzo Rauso.  Sabol then scored when Jack Oberdorf doubled over the right fielders head to give SHU a 5-3 lead.

Walsh got a leadoff homer in the ninth but Nash Bryan got a strikeout to end the game and earn the save.

Sabol led the Griffins with three hits including two doubles.  Payton Faris earned the win with a scoreless seventh inning.  Bryan earned his fourth save.

The Griffins will host LeMoyne in a three game set this weekend beginning on Friday afternoon.
