Wrestlers Earn Senior Day Victory

Seton Hill honored ten seniors prior to their final home match of the season on Saturday afternoon in the McKenna Center.  

The Griffins made it a memorable senior day as they earned the win on the first tiebreaker after a 21-21 dual meet tie.  SHU won the match based on winning six of the ten matches in the dual.  Seton Hill is now 7-5 in dual matches and 3-4 in PSAC Duals.  

Senior Frank Bonura got the Griffins off to a fast start with a 17-6 major decision win at 125 pounds that gave the Griffins an early 4-0 lead.  After an injury default at 133 pounds that gave Millersville a 6-4 lead the Griffins ran off three straight wins in the match.  

Joel Cawoski earned a hard fought 5-2 decision win at 141 pounds to give SHU a 7-6 lead.  Logan McKoy followed with another hard fought decision win at 149 pounds.  McKoy won by a 5-3 score to put the Griffins in front 10-6.  Tyler Alberts then picked up a 14-6 major decision win at 157 pounds as SHU led 14-6 midway through the dual match.  

Millersville retook the lead with a win by fall and decision win at 174 pounds as they led 15-14 with three matches remaining.  

Brandon Matthews battled hard and got a late takedown in a 5-3 decision win at 184 pounds.  Matthews put the Griffins on top 17-15 in the dual.  Brendan Finnerty had a dominating performance at 197 pounds as he earned a 11-0 major decision win to put the Griffins on top 21-15.  Millersville earned a win by fall in the final match to tie the dual at 21 but the Griffins earned the win on the tiebreaker of matches won with SHU winning six of the ten matches.  

The Griffins will travel to Fairmont State on Friday evening and Lake Erie on Saturday.
