Softball Completes Glenville Tourney with 3-0 Record

Seton Hill closed out their weekend in the Glenville State Tournament with a pair of games on Sunday afternoon.  

The Griffins defeated Lock Haven by a 6-1 score in game one then remained undefeated with a 7-2 win over WV State in game two.  SHU is now 3-0 on the season.  

SHU got on the board in the top of the first against Lock Haven.  Jenna Osikowicz singled after one out and scored on a Lauren Dellett double.  The Bald Eagles used back to back doubles to tie the game at one in the bottom half of the inning.  

Brooklyn Fukushima put the Griffins back in front with a solo shot leading off the top of the second inning.  Seton Hill increased their lead to 4-1 in the third inning.  With two outs, Osikowicz singled and stole two bases.  Lauren Dellett walked and both scored on a Morgan Toal double.  

The Griffins picked up a single run in the sixth inning.  Fukushima walked to lead off the inning and later scored on a Morgan Ryan ground out.  Osikowicz tripled and scored on a passed ball in the seventh for the Griffins sixth run.  

Chloe Elliott earned the win in relief.  She went 5.2 innings, giving up two hits and striking out six.  

Osikowicz went 4-4 in the win with three runs scored and two stolen bases.  Fukushima added two hits including a homer.  

Seton Hill again scored first in the top of the first inning against WV State.  Nichole McClendon reached on an error to open the game.  Osikowicz singled to put runners on first and second.  Dellett singled to drive in McClendon and Toal singled to knock in Osikowicz and give SHU a 2-0 lead.  

SHU doubled their lead in the third inning.  After an out Morgan Ryan walked.  McClendon followed with a double and both scored when Osikowicz doubled to make it 4-0.  

The Griffins added two more runs in the third inning.  Fukushima walked and stole a base to start the inning.  Nina Grandey tripled to score Fukushima and Grace Paredes singled to knock in Grandey to increase the SHU lead to 6-0. 

After WV State got a run in the bottom of the third, the Griffins got an unearned run in the top of the fourth to increase their lead to 7-1.

Ryan threw a complete game four hitter.  She struck out 10 in the win.  Osikowicz went 3-4 in the win while Paredes added two hits.

SHU will play their home opener on Tuesday afternoon when they host West Liberty in a doubleheader.
