Seton Hill opened their 2022 season with a doubleheader against Limestone in Gaffney, SC on Saturday afternoon.

The Griffins used a very strong offensive effort to sweep the Saints.  SHU won game one by a 10-5 score then rallied for a 16-12 win in game two.  The Griffins finished the afternoon with 34 total hits.

SHU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Vincenzo Rauso walked with one out and moved around the bases on a wild pitch and error to score the first run of the game.  The Griffins increased their lead to 4-0 in the second inning.  Drew Garth singled and later scored on an error to make it 2-0.  Both Braden Durham and Rauso had RBI doubles in the inning to increase the SHU lead to four.

Limestone cut the Griffin lead in half in the bottom of the third inning.  The Griffins got those two runs back and one more in the top of the fourth when Rauso hit a three run bomb to make it 7-2.  Drew Garth hit his first collegiate homer to lead off the fifth inning.

Durham added an RBI single in the sixth as SHU made it 10-4.

Kevin Vaupel earned the win in game one.  He worked four innings while allowing two earned runs on three hits and striking out five.

Seton Hill struck for five runs in the third inning.  Rauso hit a two run homer to cut the lead to 4-3.  Owen Sabol then cleared the bases with a three RBI double that gave the Griffins a 6-4 lead.  The Saints did not take long to retake the lead as they scored four times in the bottom of the third.

Sabol cut the Saints lead to one with an RBI single in the fifth inning.  SHU retook the lead in the seventh.  Max Mandler opened the inning with a double.  Garth followed with a two run shot to right center that gave SHU a 9-8 lead.  Sabol made it back to back jacks with a solo homer to left to make it 10-8.  Limestone answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to retake a 12-10 lead.
